Day 5 & 6 - El Paso & Mesilla

Walked in El Paso, the walk went through the beautiful rose gardens and city streets. El Paso and it's sister city in Mexico have a Mexican culture featuring wonderful food, dance and the arts.

Mesilla is a beautiful old historic town with quaint shops and great food. It has a very old cemetery which sets at the edge of town - San Albino Cemetery.

 Today was the start of our journey to the southwest. We headed out bright and early. We traveled through Michigan, down to Toledo, Ohio over to Lafayette, Indiana. Lafayette is home to Purdue University and sits on the Wabash River. Several Native American Tribes settled in the Lafayette area before white settlers came to Indiana. We had a picnic lunch at Armstrong Park named after Neil Armstrong the first astronaut to walk on the moon, he attended college at Purdue.  Information about -  Armstrong park   It was raining when we left Lafayette and headed southwest to Springfield, Illinois. Day 9 - Amarillo, Texas

Day 9 - we are headed home - traveled most of the day through New Mexico. But we lost an hour and made it to Amarillo, Texas. It is much cooler here, but still warmer than at home. Information on Amarillo, Texas

Day 4 - Travel across the High Plains

Day 4 - we traveled across the High Plains today from Santa Rosa, N. M. to Las Cruces and for the night in El Paso, Texas.
