Day 3 - Foggy & Windy!

Day 3 on the way to Las Cruces found us traveling though Kansas in the fog all the way from Wichita to just south of Liberal - the fog got so heavy north of Liberal, KS it was impossible to make out anything at the side of the road. Once we got to the Oklahoma border the sun came up and the winds picked up. We fought the wind and heavy truck traffic all way through the Oklahoma panhandle, a portion of the Texas panhandle and into New Mexico to Santa Rosa. By the time we got to Santa Rosa the winds were 30mph with gusts up into the 40's. So a long tiring day. We did stop and have a nice spaghetti lunch at a small cafe in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Santa Rosa's claim to fame is Route 66 and there is a neat Route 66 museum in town which we visited. Route 66 was popular route to drive in the 1950's & 1960's.
