Day 2 on our journey to Las Cruces brought us through Illinois, Missouri and Kansas. We stopped for lunch in St. Joseph, Missouri known as a Pony Express stop and trading post. Sitting on the banks of the Missouri River it continues to see a great deal of trade and industry. We had a picnic at the park across the street from the Pony Express Museum.









Tonight we are staying in Wichita, Kansas. Wichita once was a cowtown and you can still visit the cowtown museum. These days Wichita is home to many aerospace companies including Learjet, Cessna, and Beechcraft. Many women pilots were from Kansas including Amelia Earhart.

 Today was the start of our journey to the southwest. We headed out bright and early. We traveled through Michigan, down to Toledo, Ohio over to Lafayette, Indiana. Lafayette is home to Purdue University and sits on the Wabash River. Several Native American Tribes settled in the Lafayette area before white settlers came to Indiana. Day 9 - Amarillo, Texas

Day 9 - we are headed home - traveled most of the day through New Mexico. But we lost an hour and made it to Amarillo, Texas. It is much cooler here, but still warmer than at home. Information on Amarillo, Texas

Day 4 - Travel across the High Plains

Day 4 - we traveled across the High Plains today from Santa Rosa, N. M. to Las Cruces and for the night in El Paso, Texas.
